Who are Universal Green Energy Ltd?

Universal Green Energy Ltd specialise in wind technology.   As a nationwide company with experience in planning and installations of a variety of wind turbines we are independent and therefore able to provide you with impartial advice.  We only recommend wind turbines which are on the MCS accreditation list.  This guarantees you, the customer, will be eligible to benefit from the Government backed ‘Clean Energy Cashback Scheme’, allowing you to sell power back to the grid.    Free feasibility assessments are offered to ensure the suitability for a wind turbine.

How do I know what wind speed I have?

Leave that to us, we are able to calculate from several different sources whether or not you have a suitable wind speed.  We will then discuss which wind turbine is most suited to your site.  Should your site not be suitable for a wind turbine, then we recommend you do not go further with your application.

How do you decide where to locate a turbine?

It takes a sizeable amount of research and surveys to locate a turbine correctly.  The functionality and efficiency of the turbine is a delicate balance which depends fully on it being sited both sympathetically and in good clean air flow at optimum wind speed.

If the wind stops do I lose power?

No, the wind turbine is linked back to your meter point; you can have first use of the power you create.  On less windy days you will draw power from the grid.  On windy days, the excess power you create will be sent back to the grid.  In most cases the rate of production outweighs the usage so the energy companies will be paying you!

How exactly does the ‘Clean Energy Cash-back Scheme’ work?

The scheme is Government backed and is to encourage the use of renewable energy.  It used to be known as ‘Feed-in-tariff’ (F.I.T).  It involves payments to anyone who owns a renewable electricity system for every kilowatt hour they generate.  This is applicable to both business and domestic users.   The tariffs are paid for by the energy companies who have introduced a levy programme to cover the costs, in short all companies will be raising energy costs by 6% to fund the scheme.

Do all turbines benefit from the ‘Clean Energy Cash-back Scheme’?

No, to be eligible the turbine has to be accredited under MCS as does the installer. Universal Green Energy Ltd are fully accredited and as an independent company we pride ourselves in only offering accredited products which produce the best income/investment return for our customers.

Do wind turbines consume more energy during manufacturing than they generate?

No, during an average life-span of 20 years, a wind turbine can produce up to 80 times the amount of energy needed to produce it.

Do wind turbines affect wildlife?

When siting a turbine UGE Ltd carry out all relevant ecological surveys to reduce any possible impact on habitat.  In our experience having sited turbines on numerous farms and kennels we have yet to encounter any issues.  Livestock can be returned to the site once the installation is complete.

Who installs the wind turbine?

Universal Green Energy offer a full package to make the application process as easy as possible for you.  This includes an in-house planning team, recommended ecological surveyors, fully accredited wind turbine installation team along with providing a full after care service.  UGE Ltd will take care of everything on your behalf.

Will I need to contact my utility provider about connecting to the grid?

No, we will contact all relevant parties to discuss the connection.  We will liaise on your behalf at all times.

How regularly will my wind turbine need to be serviced?

Wind turbines ideally need to be serviced once a year.  This is essential for the first 5 years to maintain the warranty.

Where do I go from here?

In order to benefit from a free feasibility assessment of your site, please contact us and we will be happy to arrange a visit to discuss your options.  Our team are available at times to suit you, nationwide.
